Wear Checks

Wardrowbe keeps a record of what you wear so your wear counts, wash reminders and suggestions stay right. Most of that record comes from two places: the wear check, which asks whether you wore the outfit you chose, and logging what you wore when you put together something else.

Who Can Use It

Each part has its own tier:

PartFree passTrial or paid
”Did you wear it?” cardYesYes
”Log What I Wore”NoYes
Evening reminder on your phoneYesYes
”Wear check-ins” setting to turn the reminder offNoYes

All of it is part of Wardrowbe Cloud. The self-hosted open-source edition is a separate project and doesn’t include it.

The “Did You Wear It?” Card

When you choose “Wear this” on a suggested outfit, it is saved for that day and Wardrowbe asks later whether you wore it. The question appears as a “Did you wear it?” card on the dashboard:

  • For today’s outfit, from 5pm in your timezone.
  • For yesterday’s outfit and the day before, until you answer.

One card shows at a time, starting with the most recent day. It is labelled “Today’s outfit”, “Yesterday’s outfit” or “Outfit for” and the day. Answer with one of three buttons:

ButtonWhat happens
Yes, I wore itA wear is logged for every item in the outfit on the outfit’s day, and wash counts go up.
Something elseYou pick the clothes you wore instead. They get the wear, and the outfit records that you wore something else.
Not this oneNothing is logged as worn.

Your first answer stands: answering again changes nothing. An outfit more than two days old can no longer be answered.

The same question appears on the outfit’s own page while it is open, with “Yes, I wore it” and “Not this one”.

Pairings and outfits you didn’t choose never get a wear check. Items you have archived since are skipped when the wear is logged.

Log What I Wore

If you wore something you didn’t plan in Wardrowbe, use “Log What I Wore” in the Quick Actions card on the dashboard. In “Log what you wore”, pick the day (“Today”, “Yesterday” or one of the four days before) and the clothes you wore, then press “Save”.

Each item gets a wear on that day, and the clothes are saved as an outfit for that day. Saving the same clothes for the same day twice keeps one entry.

Logging what you wore is part of the trial and paid plans. On the free pass the button is hidden, because it creates an outfit of your own, which the free pass doesn’t include.

The Evening Reminder

If you use the mobile app with notifications allowed, Wardrowbe sends a push at 8pm your time when you chose an outfit for today and haven’t answered for it yet: “Did you wear today’s outfit?”. Tapping it opens the home screen at the wear check card.

The reminder:

  • Is sent as a phone push only, never by email, because an email read the next morning would ask about the wrong day.
  • Doesn’t go out on a day you already had a wash or streak reminder, so you get at most one of these in an evening.
  • Stops after three reminders in a row get no answer and no wear, and starts again once you answer a wear check or log a wear.

It reaches free pass, trial and paid accounts alike.

Turning It Off

On the trial or a paid plan, the “Wear check-ins” switch (“Get a reminder at 8pm to say whether you wore today’s outfit”) turns the reminder on or off. On the web it is on the Notifications page; on mobile it is under Settings, “Outfit Schedule”. The notification settings aren’t part of the free pass, so on the free pass you can stop the reminder by turning off notifications for Wardrowbe in your phone’s settings.

Mobile: The “Did you wear it?” card is on the home screen, with the same three buttons. “Log What I Wore” is in the Quick Actions row on the home screen and opens as a bottom sheet.
