WardrobeWear & Wash Tracking

Wear and Wash Tracking

Wardrowbe tracks which items you’ve worn and when. This data feeds directly into outfit suggestions, helping the AI avoid over-recommending recently worn items and surface things you’ve been neglecting.

Logging a Wear

There are two ways to log a wear:

From outfit history: When you accept an outfit suggestion and later confirm it was worn, all items in that outfit automatically get a wear logged. This is the primary flow.

From item details: Open any item and tap “Log Wear.” This lets you log a wear manually, for example when you wore something without generating a suggestion first.

Each wear log records the date. You can log multiple wears for the same item on the same day if needed (e.g., changed outfits midday).

Wear History Dates

The item detail view shows a timeline of all wear dates in reverse chronological order. The total wear count is shown prominently at the top.

Last worn date is color-coded across the app:

  • Green: Worn within the last 1-2 weeks
  • Amber: Worn 2-6 weeks ago
  • Red: Not worn in over 6 weeks (considered “forgotten”)

This color coding appears on wardrobe grid cards and in the item detail view.

Wash Tracking

After a wear is logged, the item is marked as “needs washing.” Items in this state:

  • Get a small indicator badge on their wardrobe grid card.
  • Are excluded from outfit suggestions until marked as washed.

To clear the needs-wash flag, open the item detail and click “Mark as Washed.” Bulk-marking is available from the wardrobe grid using bulk selection.

Some items may not need washing after every wear (e.g., outerwear, bags). You can skip marking items as needing a wash when logging a wear by toggling off the “needs wash” option in the wear dialog.

How Wear Data Affects Suggestions

The suggestion engine uses wear history in several ways:

Repeat avoidance: Items worn recently are down-weighted. The AI won’t suggest a shirt you wore yesterday unless your wardrobe is very small.

Forgotten items: Items with red “last worn” status get a gentle priority boost. If you haven’t worn something in 6+ weeks, the AI will try to work it into suggestions when it fits the occasion and weather.

Seasonal patterns: The AI looks at what you wore during similar weather in the past and gives those items a higher weighting.

Wash exclusions: Items marked as needing a wash are fully excluded from suggestions until cleared.

Mobile: Wear and wash tracking works the same on mobile. After confirming an outfit, you’re prompted to confirm what you actually wore. You can also long-press any item card in the wardrobe tab to quickly log a wear.
