Onboarding
When you first sign in, Wardrowbe walks you through a 5-step setup wizard. Each step can be skipped (except the first), but completing them all gives the AI enough context to make useful suggestions from day one.
Step 1: Welcome
The welcome step confirms your account and lets you set a display name. It gives a brief overview of what the app does so you know what to expect before proceeding.
Step 2: Family (Optional)
You can create a new family group or join an existing one using an invite code. A family group lets members share outfit ratings and browse each other’s suggestions.
This step is optional. You can always create or join a family later from the Family page.
Step 3: Location
Enter your city or allow location access. Wardrowbe uses your location to pull live weather data when generating outfit suggestions. You can change this later in Settings.
The location is stored as a city name with latitude and longitude. It is not shared with other family members and is not used for anything outside of weather lookups.
Step 4: Style Preferences
This is the most important setup step. It covers two areas.
Favorite colors and colors to avoid: A grid of color circles. Click a color to mark it as a favorite (filled circle). Click a second time to mark it as “avoid” (shown with a strikethrough indicator). Click again to clear the preference.
Style sliders: Five independent sliders from 0 to 100 representing your style profile.
| Slider | What it means |
|---|---|
| Casual | Preference for relaxed, everyday outfits |
| Formal | Preference for polished, dressed-up outfits |
| Sporty | Preference for athletic or performance wear |
| Minimalist | Preference for simple, clean combinations |
| Bold | Preference for statement pieces and strong color contrasts |
These sliders don’t need to add up to any particular total. They are independent signals the AI uses when multiple outfit options are available.
You can update them at any time from Style Preferences.
Step 5: First Item Upload
The wizard prompts you to add your first wardrobe item. You can upload a photo, paste an image URL, or describe the item in text. The AI analyzes it and generates tags automatically.
You can skip this step and add items later from the Wardrobe page. At least 5 items are recommended before requesting outfit suggestions.
Complete
Once all steps are done, the wizard closes and you land on the dashboard. The setup checklist on the dashboard tracks any remaining gaps and links you directly to whatever needs attention.
Mobile: The mobile onboarding flow mirrors these steps but is presented as full-screen slides with native navigation. Each screen has a “Skip for now” button at the bottom right.
